Ctesiphon, The Forgotten Wonder

Ctesiphon... City in Mesopotamia, at one of the main sites that's known as the first civilization. This place is known for being very poplulated, from the stone age, until today, through out the history.
The uprising of Arabs stopped the city development. It was one of the greatest of cities at its time in Sassanids. It had one famous arch, that is very influencial in Perian and Middle Eastern architecture. It is said the Khusrau II, or Khusrau Parviz, (the victorious Khusrau), sat at the balcony there. Two main Persian extinct legacy, that were ambushed by Arab raiders, are Baharestan Carpet, and Derafsh-e-Kaviani, the flag of Persian empire.
There are very different guesses about the size of Baharestan Carpet, but historians have one thing in common that it was made of gold and precious jewels. Derafsh-e-Kaviani wasn't only a spiritual esteem, but the invaluable jeweleries. Historians say that each king put a particular gem on the flag.
Baharestan was cut into pieces, after bringing to Omar, who wanted to keep that as a souvenir of Arabs' triumph against Persians. But Ali convinced Omar to divide it among the Muslims, because it was their effort too.
And I haven't read anywhere that what happened to the flag.
I found a very good website about this old times, called Livius. It's very useful for further readings and research.
